Our Firstie Program (Post Kindergarten)
6/7 year olds

The Firstie Program is an opportunity to offer challenging material and information to children who have participated in a kindergarten program and may or may not meet the public school cut-off date. Or for those children who may just need another year to grow. The children will continue to thrive and grow socially, developmentally and academically without halting or hindering his or her individual learning pace and style.  This extra year lends itself to a natural and successful progression into a first grade class.

Monday through Friday mornings plus required Tuesday & Thursday Extended Day

All children in the morning session will participate in weekly lessons in language, music, and movement. If you are interested in securing a space for your child, you should complete an application form and submit it with your deposit of $1,900. Classroom visits may be scheduled by calling to make an appointment. Applications will be processed in the order that they are received. We have limited spaces for new students and will fill classes on the basis of space availability.

Please call the school with any questions or to visit the school: (978) 368-3555.

Text Box: Through activities in daily living: a child’s fine motor skills, care of the environment, care of self, as well as grace and courtesy are developed. Once in our primary classrooms, the sensorial materials develop the skills of observation in every sense, develop rich vocabulary, as well as an appreciation of the materials used. Language is developed through many materials in the classroom. Stories, songs, poems, the names used in geography and science, and the tactile sandpaper letters all contribute to a multi-faceted approach to learning.
Math concepts are initiated with concrete materials including sorting, counting and problem solving. Eventually, children move on to use the many math materials. Maria Montessori designed all of her materials to initially isolate a concept before unifying ideas.
